Overview

Myanmar's drone environment is one of the most complex and poorly documented in INDOPACOM. The Tatmadaw (Myanmar military) operates Chinese-origin armed UCAVs and has explored Turkish drone acquisitions. Simultaneously, ethnic resistance organizations (EROs) and the People's Defence Force (PDF) extensively employ commercial drones modified for reconnaissance and attack. The ongoing civil war (post-Feb 2021 coup) has produced a rapidly evolving DIY drone threat that is highly relevant to EOD.
